The Departments of Nursing and Allied Health, Midwifery and Social Work within the School of Health and Social Work are looking to appoint a new External Examiner for the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice and MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (Degree Apprenticeship) routes from October 2024 for a period of four years.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced academic staff with current, professional registration with one of the statutory regulators of health and care professions. Some experience of external examining and apprenticeships are desirable, although not essential as we can support new external examiners as required. You should have recent expertise in an Advanced Practice Role or working with an Advanced Practice programme.
Suitable candidates will:
- Be employed in Higher Education
- Have experience in delivering advanced clinical practice education
- Ideally have experience working with an apprenticeship programme
- Have experience in designing, delivering and assessing Level 7 provision
- Ideally have previous External Examiner experience
- Be resident and have the right to work in the UK
Duties will include:
- Remote moderation of assessed materials, advising the programme teams on the content and standard of assessments
- Completion of module reports and a yearly programme report
- Online attendance at exam boards (normally 2 per semester)
All appointments are subject to the candidate meeting the University’s criteria for appointment and must be approved by Academic Quality.
External Examiners’ fees for taught programmes are calculated according to a formula that considers both programme and module responsibilities, the fee for this appointment is available on request.
