Plymouth Marjon University* is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for the Hearing Aid Dispenser Higher Level Apprenticeship and FdSc Hearing Aid Audiology (provision subject to approval for a January 2024 start).
This appointment will commence from January 2024, and will end on 31st December 2027.
All prospective External Examiners will need to be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
About the programmes:
The Hearing Aid Audiology provision at Plymouth Marjon University is designed to equip students with the necessary knowledge, intellectual and practical skills required to become competent hearing aid dispensers. The aim is to enable students to develop a comprehensive understanding of the sector, and to be able to make informed, evidence-based decisions about appropriate diagnostic assessment and clinical intervention in an autonomous fashion.
About the role:
The External Examiner would be expected to engage with the provision virtually and, where appropriate, in person and submit both an interim and standard report on an annual basis. A fee is payable in line with sector norms, along with reasonable expenses.
Recent External Examiner experience is desirable, although the University will provide a mentor for first-time External Examiners. In addition, all new External Examiners will be invited to an annual induction event (online). The University regrets that nominations from current or recently retired colleagues from the following institutions are not eligible to be considered at the present time: Coventry University, the University of East London, University College London, the University of Huddersfield and the University of Gloucestershire.
