The University of Bedfordshire, Faculty of Health and Social Sciences is seeking to appoint an external examiners to their Healthcare Practice foundation degree an FdSc 2 year (Apprenticeship) course for Assistant Practitioners.
This is a full-time apprenticeship course which extends over a period of 2 academic years (FdSc). The course adopts a work-integrated approach to learning which facilitates the application of theoretical learning within the workplace. Learners from a number of local NHS Trusts attend university and engage in work-based learning activities in a healthcare practice setting.
We are keen to recruit academics who have Allied Health Practitioner (AHP) related experience since this Assistant Practitioner program is for NHS workers in AHP related roles. Whilst external examiner experience is desirable, we also welcome expressions of interest from individuals new to this role.
The successful candidates will be offered an induction programme and will be supported throughout the duration of their tenure.
You will be invited to attend our academic examination boards throughout the year. These are held on campus or virtually. You will also be invited to observe practical assessments (where relevant) and visit students within practice areas. The specific remit includes review of units at academic level 4-5 contributing to the above foundation degree award.
The term of office for the successful candidate will be for a period of 4 years from December 2021.
Please note that all External Examiner appointments are subject to approval by the University’s External Examiner Committee.
