The School of Health Sciences, within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Nottingham is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for our Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (PGDip and MSc)
programmes.

1. Details about the programme:
The programme is fully accredited by the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) as an IAPT level 2 course. Further details about the programme/awards can be found on our website at:

2. External examiner responsibilities, regulations and requirements:

a) Responsibilities:
External examiner responsibilities include external moderation of assessments, completion of an annual monitoring report and attendance at Examination boards (at least one per year). The School uses an electronic marking system. External examiners are required to make use of the system during the external moderation process.

b) Criteria and restrictions for the appointment of external examiners:

All appointments are subject to candidate(s) meeting the University’s criteria for appointment.

c) Requirements:
Applicants should have relevant academic and/or professional qualifications to at least the level of the qualification being externally examined. Relevant professional experience in the fields of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, professional registration with BABCP and a valid teaching qualification are essential requirements for this post.

It is preferable to have previous experience of external examining although support and guidance can be supplied for those new to this role. Please note where required the University will fund successful applicants to undertake the External Personal Development for External Examiners qualification delivered by the Advance HE.

The appointment will start immediately and will be for a period of four years.
