The school of Health Sciences is looking to appoint an External Examiner for an established suite of post registration master’s programmes: MSc Advanced Helicopter Emergency Services (HEMS); MSc HEMs Advanced retrieval and transfer; MSc Advanced Clinical Practice; MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (AHP); PGCert Critical Care; PGCert Acute Medical Care and the post registration Emergency Practitioner programme. The programmes attract applicants across a range of professional groups including, nurses, physiotherapists, paramedics, and pharmacists.

Candidates will therefore need to have experience in the subject area of Advanced Practice and Critical Care. Applicants should have experience of acting as a constructively critical peer to ensure students are assessed fairly and transparently across the programme. External examiners will be expected to review a range of assessments relating to the programmes, be a member of the board of examiners, attend exam boards and comment and give advice relating to curriculum design and programme structure. Examiners will be expected to complete an annual examiners report form and engage with pathway leads and exam officers when necessary. Therefore, candidates should have experience in teaching and examining, have a good understanding of quality assurance, and have specific subject knowledge in relation to the educational preparation of master’s level students in these areas of study.

Applicants should be currently employed as a Senior lecturer or above within a university appointment. Bangor University offers support for External Examiners through a full induction day. Master’s programmes have two external exam boards throughout the year and normally expect External Examiners to attend.
