The Faculty of Health Education and Society are seeking to appoint an External Examiner (EE) to support the End Point Assessment Activity for the Degree Apprenticeship MSc Advanced Clinical Practitioner. The EE will conduct a review of the assessments of the higher degree integrated apprenticeship in accordance with the regulations outlined in the Advanced Clinical Practitioner End Point Assessment Plan (ST0564).

Roles and Responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that the Gateway requirements have been satisfactorily met. To accurately determine whether an apprentice has gained the required Knowledge, Skills and Behaviour (KSBs) needed to pass their apprenticeship and gain their qualification to proceed through Gateway to EPA
  • Review and contribute to assessment material for the EPA assessment including review of the open book exam questions
  • Ensuring that all components of the End Point Assessment have been satisfactorily met
  • Attend the final assessment boards to confirm EPA decisions and to complete an annual report
  • Provide comments on proposed modifications to the EPA preparation module and the development of new materials if requested

EPA Assessment Periods – January and September, Reassessment Opportunities March, and November
Current learner profile approx. 8 learners per cohort, IA activity estimated 3.5 hrs per learner

Applicants must:

  • Hold a Professional Healthcare Registration with the NMC or HCPC
  • Hold Master’s degree or higher qualification in a health or related subject
  • Possess a recordable teaching qualification
  • Have familiarity with the Advanced Clinical Practitioner Apprenticeship standard and End Point Assessment Plan and the standard expected of learners to achieve the final award
  • Be independent of the programme, and University to avoid any conflict of interest.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills including report writing and have the ability to work in a flexible and adaptive manner
  • Previous experience as an external examiner is desirable, but not essential
