Bournemouth University is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for our BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy programme with effect from September 2023. The period of appointment will be for a period of four years and the fee paid to External Examiners per year is £450. The University provides an External Examiner Induction/Briefing seminar in November and March each year to support those new to external examining and experienced External Examiners.

The ideal academic candidate for this post will have previous experience as an External Examiner in BSc or MSc Physiotherapy courses and be familiar with the learning guidance from the Health and Care Professions Council and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (although support will be provided to exceptional candidates without this prior experience) and should be currently active in educational delivery and research within the field of Physiotherapy.

As External Examiner, your duties would include:

  • External moderation of a range of assignments
  • Review proposed assessment briefs to determine their appropriateness
  • Submission of an annual report to the Academic Quality department
  • Attendance at Assessment Boards
  • Advising on matters such as programme review and/or modifications
