The University of Bolton, School of Nursing and Midwifery, is seeking to appoint an external examiner for our BSc (Hons) Nursing (Child) programme, to support our existing external examiners.
Examiners play a central role in the maintenance of the standards of the University’s awards and the currency of the curriculum. The duties will include the review of the students’ academic work and Practice Assessment Documents plus visiting practice learning partners as required at least once a year as per Nursing and Midwifery Council requirements. The successful candidate will be required to review and approve the assessment tasks and examination papers; review samples of student work on modules within the programme, including practice documents / visits; the endorsement of marks to confirm that the marks are agreed, fully moderated and externally examined set of results; the submission of annual reports; attendance at appropriate boards of examiners and agreement to programme modifications.
The curriculum has been developed from the NMC Standards (NMC 2018). The successful applicant will be responsible for reviewing modules that are to be delivered at level 6 starting in early 2023.
External examiner appointments are typical for a period of four years and the appointment is for a start as soon as possible following approval of the appointment Applicants with relevant experience and knowledge of pre-registration nursing education within the Child Field and registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
