The Department of Nursing and Community Health is seeking to appoint an external examiner for the following programme:
BSc / BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies – Adult nursing including the Return to practice module
This is a large undergraduate, pre-registration nursing programme that offers two pathways. Both require full-time study and, on successful completion, each lead to professional registration on Sub-Part 1 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council register as a nurse in the fields of either Adult, Child, Learning Disabilities or Mental Health. Two programmes are currently running (Year 1 – 2018 NMC Standards; Year 2-4 2014 NMC Standards).
Applications are invited from suitably qualified academic staff that will have experience in managing and assessing students on similar programmes. Experience of external examining would be an advantage but is not essential. As an External Examiner, you will be responsible for the external moderation of a range of modules from all nursing fields and will be invited to review a selection of scripts and comment on assessment content. You would be expected to attend two Assessment Boards and submit a written report each year.
The period of tenure is for four years and will commence in September 2021.
All External Examiner appointments are subject to approval by the University. The University offers support for newly appointed external assessors.
