The University of Winchester has developed Bachelor of Nursing Programmes in the three fields of Adult, Mental Health and Learning Disability in 2019. In response to local workforce needs across the Wessex region two further pre-registration programmes; a BN in Child Nursing and Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship Programme (Learning Disability), were validated in 2020.
The provision of nursing programmes across all four fields has enabled us to provide a richness of experience for all our learners, and meaningfully incorporate the University’s values of ‘Compassion’, ‘Individual’s Matter’ and ‘Spirituality’.
We are seeking to appoint an External Examiner for our Child Nursing and Mental Health Nursing programmes based in the School of Health and Care Professions. You would act as a critical friend to a dynamic and growing team of nurse academics and support the governance and assessment processes within our current suite of programmes, as well as new courses as they are developed.
This position requires the external examiner to be a registered nurse or registered health care professional. The appointment will be from March 2021 or as soon as possible for four years and the specific commitments are as follows:
- To review a range of coursework throughout the academic year.
- To attend one board of examiners meeting for the programme each year and submit an annual external examiner report.
- To engage in communication with the programme team when required.
- To carry out at least one virtual or face to face meeting with students.
Previous external examining experience is desirable. Fees and expenses are payable in line with the university policy. If you would like to be considered for this role, please submit a CV by email Chris Gale by 8th February 2021 or for further information about the role, email Chris.Gale@winchester.ac.uk
