The University of Suffolk is a new and ambitious institution with a well-established track record of delivering high-quality academic programmes in health and a growing research profile.
We are seeking a permanent appointment as Associate Professor and Head of Sports in the School of Health and Sports Sciences. The person appointed will be expected to provide the academic vision, innovation, strategic leadership, and management that will further develop a sustainable teaching, learning and research programme in Sports and Performance.
The post holder will be based in our new building on the Ipswich Campus, which houses two floors of brand-new clinical simulation facilities, featuring two state-of-the-art hospital wards, a midwifery birthing unit, a new sports and exercise facility, a working radiography imaging suite, counselling/physiotherapy clinic rooms and the Suffolk Institute of Health and Wellbeing research.

The successful applicant will possess a PhD and/ or an extensive nationally recognised professional expertise in Sports and Performance, have experience of leading on research publications, projects and funding bids.
They should have the flexibility to work within diverse teams, while demonstrating self-motivation and time management skills and the ability to work, often to tight deadlines, with limited supervision. The post holder will be expected to have a strong research background including experience in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, experience of leading research teams and projects with sensitivity and creative problem solving, and extensive understanding of safeguarding, ethics and quality assurance in research.
