Competitive salary aligned to University of Hertfordshire – Academic Manager, AM1, £64,546 pa with potential to progress to AM2, £74,669 pa with designated skills and experience
Annual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

The School of Health and Social Work is one of seven Schools of the University of Hertfordshire and is a Strategic Business Unit of UH. The school has a well-established reputation, delivering a large and varied portfolio of health and social care research and educational programmes, supporting a diverse student population of over 6,200 students. The school comprises of more than 280 academic, professional, technical and research staff, with many academics being qualified in a health or social care associated discipline and registered with their respective professional body or council. Main duties/responsibilities
The person appointed to this job and Associate Dean role will be a key contact with NHS Trusts, Local Authorities, NHS England, Professional and Regulatory bodies and other health, social care and third sector partners for all contractual and business development requirements, including Degree Apprenticeships. The role will demand close collaboration with staff from within the School, particularly the Heads of Department, Associate Dean of Research, the University’s Legal Department, Enterprise and Business Development and external organisations.

Skills and experience required
You will be an individual with initiative and a positive approach to problem solving, possessing an ambitious approach to business and enterprise endeavour, especially in the context of higher education, and a demonstrable track record of managing and leading in these areas, as well as a drive and commitment to promoting and undertaking research.

You will have knowledge and expertise of health-related and social care programmes as well as an understanding of the key strategic goals of the University/business and enterprise in the higher education sector, and University academic regulations and governance.

You will also have excellent communication skills and the proven ability to form good working relationships with multi-disciplinary teams, on an internal and external basis.

Qualifications required
You will be educated with a Master’s degree (or equivalent level 7 qualification), in a relevant subject area. Holding a PhD or undertaking a PhD in a relevant subject area aligned to the School of Health and Social Work portfolio would be desirable.
