The Leicester School of Nursing and Midwifery, within the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, at De Montfort University (DMU), Leicester is seeking to appoint two End Point Assessment (EPA) Independent Assessors for the EPA module on our MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (Apprenticeship) programme, which comprises of 20 credits at level 7.

The Independent Assessors will work collaboratively with the programme team to develop and quality assure assessment materials, to take an active first marker role in the assessment process. The post holders will be required to engage with quality assurance and moderation activities. The Independent Assessors will be recruited as temporary staff members via Unitemps for the duration of the EPA and resits/retakes period.

As an experienced academic the post holder will:

  • Be a current Registered Health Professional (NMC, HCPC, GPhc) and participate in ongoing continuing professional development (CPD) relevant to Advanced Clinical Practice.
  • Hold Master’s degree or higher qualification in a health or related subject
  • Possess a recordable teaching qualification
  • Have a minimum of three years’ experience working in the field of Advanced Clinical Practice in a clinical and or educational setting
  • Possess a minimum of three years’ experience of assessing at Masters level and an understanding of the Advanced Clinical Practitioner Apprenticeship standard and EPA Plan

Previous experience as an external examiner is desirable, but not essential.

Main Duties:

  • Assesses and grades apprentices completed examination papers
  • Chairs the presentation panel and determines the presentation grade
  • Determines the final apprenticeship grade
  • Attends bi-annual standardisation and moderation training sessions
  • Provide quality assessment feedback to apprentices via Turnitin in line with the University’s 15-day turnaround.
  • Acts as first marker and/or moderator for resits of any element of the EPA.
  • Participates in external quality assurance activities where required
  • Submits an annual log of CPD activities undertaken

Provisional EPA assessment dates: Week commencing 28th August to mid-September 2023.

Provisional resit dates: December 2023, the Presentation consisting of the two elements: the clinical change report and the presentation and in January 2024: The open book exam.
