We are seeking brilliant, friendly, ambitious and inspirational Course Director to support our Nursing provision.

The Course Director will lead and co-ordinate the delivery of a large course or group of cognate courses. This will include providing leadership in the ongoing development of courses to ensure that they are contemporary, meet and respond to market demand and are aligned to employment and skills opportunities providing positive graduate outcomes.

Responsibilities will extend to supporting the Head of Departments for Theory and Practice in management activities. The role incorporates responsibility for the student experience ensuring a strategic and managed approach to learning, teaching and assessment and individualized and tailored student support appropriate for the discipline mix. Ongoing quality enhancement is central to the role with responsibility for managing annual and periodic reporting activity.

The Course Director is expected to work collaboratively with the Course Leads and the apprentice lead to ensure continuing maintenance of NMC standards and OFSTED compliance.?

The role also includes such responsibilities as:

  • Co-ordinating the course teams, driving a collective and well understood approach to delivery and management of the course.?
  • Building teams that share responsibilities and understand priorities and have collective ownership of the student experience.
  • Ensuring regular external liaison with for example, external examiners, schools and colleges and industry representatives will be essential to the success of the course.
  • Driving the achievement of the University KPIs at course level including NSS/PTES, graduate outcomes, retention and recruitment.

The successful applicants will demonstrate excellent knowledge and skill in operating department practice, will work well within a team and will possess excellent communication skills.?

Applicants must hold a relevant professional degree qualification (postgraduate/doctoral level is preferable) and must be a registrant with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.?

The position will be based at Leek Road site, Staffordshire University, Stoke on Trent, although travel between the University’s sites will be expected where required.
