This podcast explores the findings of a 17-month participatory action research project conducted at the University of Bradford, funded by the Elizabeth Casson Trust. Co-led by staff and students, the project investigates the experiences of occupational therapy students from marginalised groups, focusing on how microaggressions manifest in both university settings and practice placements. Although the research focused on OT students, the insights have broader relevance across all healthcare education. We’ll unpack what microaggressions are, how they affect student learning and well-being, and what universities and placement providers can do to create more inclusive environments.
