What is Equity Month?

The Council of Deans of Health has dedicated a month to exploring issues around racism in healthcare education. As a sector, we still have a long way to go to ensure that both our academic leaders and students we recruit reflect the breadth of our society. In this welcome video, Andrea Cameron, Chair of the CoDH EDI Strategic Policy Group, opens Equity Month 2025 and highlights the variety of activities and resources that the Council of Deans will be releasing this month.

This year we have updated Race Equity Month to Equity Month to broaden our scope and reflect a wider focus on inclusion, embracing race, disability, neurodiversity, age, gender, and more.

Webinar: Creating Inclusive Learning Environments: Reasonable Adjustments in Healthcare Education

This webinar will explore how we can create inclusive and equitable learning experiences for all students across the UK, while also considering the practicalities of what constitutes a ‘reasonable’ adjustment. We will be looking at educational frameworks and strategies for supporting students with disabilities or additional learning needs and how higher education institutions can proactively support diverse learners. We will also explore some of the common challenges in implementing reasonable adjustments and opportunities for collaboration and shared learning across sectors. Register now!

Webinar: Men in Nursing: Evolving Narratives for a Diverse Workforce

This webinar integrates insights from literature, workforce data, and personal narratives to examine prevailing perceptions of men in nursing. By unpacking gendered stereotypes and norms in relation to nursing, it underscores the benefits to the profession as well as society of transforming gender balance in nursing. The discussion advocates for pressing strategic change toward a more inclusive and equitable profession across education, research, leadership, and clinical practice, contributing to a stronger healthcare workforce and a more just society.
