ABOUT US
Transforming lives through excellent education
London Met is an extraordinary institution. Equity and social inclusion have always been our driving principles, and it’s what makes the University so unique. Our organisation is distinctive, both in its eclectic and diverse community of students and staff, and also for its historical role in serving some of London’s most deprived boroughs. Everything we do is underpinned by our philosophy that an individual should have the opportunity to transform their life through the power of education.

Equipping our students with the tools for their future is at the heart of our academic offering. We pride ourselves on providing our students with access to a wealth of opportunities and professions. Our graduates benefit personally, but also contribute their unique perspectives to society, culture, public service and the economy in all areas of London, the UK and around the world.

ABOUT THE POST
We are looking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Acute Care Nursing and Clinical Skills.
The successful applicant will be a Registered Nurse (Adult) with a passion for nurse education, and a drive to see our students succeed. You should have an established background in nursing education with a focus on acute inpatient care. Experience of practice and education in an area of acute care such as Intensive/critical/step down care, emergency room, or acute medical/surgical nursing is desirable. You should have a good knowledge of the changing landscape of care and the drive toward interprofessional, place-based, and integrated care working. You will ideally be in possession of a teaching award such as the HEA fellowship or similar. Experience in course development, and practice education is desirable as we expand our nursing provision.

The work of our team is values driven and explicitly addresses social justice and social inclusion not only through a clear underpinning philosophy but also in the collaborative and participative teaching and learning approach. We intend our work to be transformative in raising student aspirations and enhancing employability through a consistent emphasis on personal, professional and academic development in addition to reflecting current and future trends in the sector. The successful applicants will demonstrate a commitment to, and experience of working aligned with these values.

Working with locally identified needs, our nursing programme will have local, primary, community and social care nursing foci: seeking to promote the visibility of primary and social care careers through nursing placements within our nursing curriculum. We will empower our students to work to the scope of their registration on graduation and showcase a full range of nursing career options throughout their student career with us.

We have an ambitious programme for nursing which includes the use of our multi-million-pound Simulation and Skills Suite. Our nursing programme provision is complemented with a range of allied health professional programmes including Dietetics; Physiotherapy and Psychology; as well as Biomedical Sciences.
This post will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
