Our students and staff, past, present, and future, are the beating heart of our city and can be found in every corner of every industry and community. We couldn’t exist anywhere else and have shaped the city in which we belong.

We are now seeking an inspirational, innovative and enterprising senior academic to lead on the delivery of excellence in teaching, research and enterprise in the merging School of Nursing and Advanced Practice and the School of Public and Allied Health. Situated in the Faculty of Health, Innovation, Technology and Science (HITS) this merged school continues to be one of the nation’s largest providers of health care professionals providing high quality education and cutting-edge learning innovation. A positive and creative student experience at all levels is critical to the mission of the school.

A thriving health research culture is visible across several areas, including world-class reputations in public health, cardiovascular science and others making a significant contribution to an enhanced REF submission. A revised faculty structure is designed to support and grow research, knowledge exchange and innovation into the future.

The School Director is a senior management role within the University and a key position in the Faculty structure. Reporting to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (PVC) for HITS, the post provides a significant opportunity to lead a creative, dynamic and award-winning School, influencing the strategic direction of both the School and Faculty.

The School has an excellent reputation and has been publicly commended for its relationships with students, service users and external partners. Students and staff benefit from an increasingly diverse international strategy and enterprise activities and the School continues to develop its contribution to health outcomes for the local and regional community.

You will take a strategic role within the structures of the NHS within Cheshire and Merseyside and deputise for the PVC HITS, across a range of regional, national and international activities.

You will have a proven track record in excellent academic leadership delivering a climate which enables individuals and teams to thrive and excel. Active engagement with professional and academic bodies and experience of building regional and international relationships and partnerships is essential. You will be adept in managing complex academic areas and have an evidenced ability to think strategically whilst also delivering operational improvements. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and ambitious faculty leadership team, so experience of academic leadership of a discipline relevant to the School is also key.

In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction and development support as well as family-friendly policies.
