UCAS has published data on confirmed places on undergraduate higher education courses 28 days after A-level results following the Clearing process. The full data set including a breakdown for nursing and midwifery courses by applicant domicile, age, and country of provider is available.
The Council has compiled a briefing paper summarising the key trends for nursing and midwifery.
Chief Executive of the Council of Deans of Health, Ed Hughes, said:
“The Council of Deans of Health welcomes the increase in nursing applicant numbers in England which represents the first rise since the peak in 2021 during the Covid-19 pandemic, with figures now exceeding pre-pandemic levels. We’re also pleased to see growth in midwifery applicants in England. While there has been a rise in nursing applicants in Northern Ireland, the picture across the devolved nations is more mixed, with declines in Wales and Scotland. The continued decline seen in mature student acceptances further highlights the urgent need for targeted support to boost recruitment and ensure a sustainable future workforce across the UK.”
