External Examiner – Post-Graduate Independent and/or Supplementary prescribing:
- Pharmacist independent prescribing
- Nurse and Midwife independent prescribing
- Allied Health Professional independent prescribing
- Allied Health Professionals supplementary prescribing
We are seeking to appoint an experienced and suitably qualified External Examiner for our Independent and/or Supplementary Prescribing module, delivered at postgraduate level within the School of Medicine, Health and Life Sciences.
The module supports registered health professionals to develop the knowledge, skills and professional competence required to practise safely and effectively as independent and/or supplementary prescribers, in line with relevant professional, statutory and regulatory body requirements.
The External Examiner will be responsible for ensuring academic standards are appropriate, comparable and consistent with national expectations and professional standards. Reviewing assessment briefs, marking and moderation processes. Providing annual reports and constructive feedback to enhance quality and standards. Attending Examination Boards and supporting the ongoing development of the module.
The appointment will start 1st June 2026. Applications are invited from suitably qualified, experience academic staff, who hold the Independent or Supplementary prescribing qualification. Previous experience of acting in the role of external examiner is desirable but not essential. The tenure of appointment is for four years. All external examiner appointments are subject to approval by the Associate Dean, Education and Student Success at the University. The successful candidate will have access to an on-line induction to familiarise themselves with the role and have the opportunity to meet the teaching team; additional support may be available for those who have not undertaken the role before.
