External Examiners – Postgraduate Counselling and Psychotherapy Programmes

The School of Health at Leeds Beckett University is looking to appoint 2 External Examiners for our Postgraduate Counselling and Psychotherapy programmes. The posts are from 1st November 2026 for four years.

Applicants should be registered with a professional body in the fields of counselling, psychotherapy or cognate subject (e.g. BACP) and be working in UK Higher Education with experience of teaching and examining at postgraduate levels and a professional qualification such as HCPC etc.

External Examiners attend Board of Examiners meetings at least once a year, submit an annual report and review coursework. Previous experience of external examining is not necessary as the University will provide online induction training and a mentor. The appointment is subject to approval by the University’s Scrutiny process.
