The School of Health at Leeds Beckett University is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for the following courses:
- BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing
- BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing
- BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing Degree Apprenticeship
- BSc (Hons) Mental Health Nursing Degree Apprenticeship
- FdSc Nursing Associate Degree Apprenticeship
The appointment commences 1st November 2026, and tenure is for four years.
Applicants must be registered with the NMC as an Adult Nurse or Mental Health Nurse and have experience of delivering pre-registration nursing programmes. The External Examiner team work across the Adult and Mental Health nursing fields of practice and the FdSc Nursing Associate programme, with field specific modules being allocated to the appropriate Examiners.
External Examiners attend Board of Examiners meetings at least once a year (twice a year for Nursing Associate), submit an annual report and review coursework.
Previous experience of external examining is not necessary as the University is able to provide mentorship to the successful applicant and an online induction, and further support is provided by the Course Director. However, we would require someone preferably with apprenticeship and end point assessment experience. Appointments are subject to the candidate meeting the University’s criteria for appointment.
