External Examiner needed for BSc (Hons) Learning Disability Nursing with The University of Northampton

The University of Northampton is looking for an External Examiner for BSc (Hons) Learning Disability Nursing (including apprentice route).

You should have appropriate expertise and experience to be able to undertake a role in the quality assurance of academic standards in Higher Education (ideally a Course Leader or Senior Lecturer on similar courses) and should hold NMC registration in Learning Disability nursing.
All External Examiners for courses leading to registration or recordable qualifications with the Nursing and Midwifery Council will be expected to maintain their registration to the NMC professional register for the duration of their engagement.

This role will involve:

  • Confirming the comparability of standards of student performance with those of similar modules at other UK Institutions of Higher Education.
  • Confirming that the assessment process in its entirety is sound and has been fairly conducted with full regard to justice to students.
  • Providing an annual report to the University
  • Attending assessment boards.
  • Reviewing a range of modules within the Learning Disability specific course and within the wider nursing Course.

We are looking for someone:

  • who is suitably qualified with expertise in the above areas, ideally a Course Leader or Senior Lecturer on similar courses;
  • previous experience as an external examiner is preferred but not essential

The appointment will be for the four academic years 2025/26 to 2029/30, with immediate start and ending 30 September 2029.
