External examiner – MSc pre-registration Nursing

The Department of Nursing, Community and Public Health is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for the following programme:

MSc Nursing Studies (Adult) Preregistration

This is a pre-registration nursing programme that requires full-time study and, on successful completion, leads to professional registration on Sub-Part 1 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council register as a nurse in the Adult Field.

The MSc pre-reg programme adheres to the NMC 2018 education standards and is delivered over the duration of 28 months.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified academic staff that will have experience of managing and assessing students on similar programmes. Experience of external examining would also be an advantage but is not essential. As an External Examiner you will be responsible for the external moderation of a range of modules across parts 1-3 of the programme and will be invited to review a selection of assessment-instruments and comment on student submissions for these modules. You would be expected to attend two Assessment Boards and submit a written report each year.

The period of tenure is for four years and will commence in September 2026.

All External Examiner appointments are subject to approval by the University. The University offers support for newly appointed external assessors.
