Bournemouth University is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for Continuing Professional Development in health-related courses with effect from September 2026. These include L6/7 Foundations in General Practice Nursing, L6 Locating and Evaluating Evidence for Professional Practice, L6 Return to Nursing Practice and L7 Evidencing Professional Learning
The period of appointment will be for a period of four years and the fee paid to External Examiners per year is £450. The University provides an External Examiner Induction/Briefing seminar in November and March each year to support those new to external examining and experienced External Examiners.

The ideal academic candidate for this post will have previous experience as an External Examiner in health-related courses (although support will be provided to exceptional candidates without this prior experience) and should be currently active in educational delivery and research particularly within the field of primary and secondary care. .
As External Examiner, your duties would include:
- External moderation of a range of assignments –
- Review proposed assessment briefs to determine their appropriateness
- Submission of an annual report to the Academic Quality department
- Attendance at Assessment Boards (online)
- Advising on matters such as programme review and/or modifications
