Equality, diversity and inclusion group
The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) portfolio communicates the benefits of healthcare higher education and shares inclusive best practice in learning, recruitment and retention policy.
The Council’s EDI policy work focuses on:
- Encouraging HEIs to grow their EDI agenda and develop more equitable practices
- Promoting best practice in inclusive practices
- Supporting diverse voices in decision making processes
The Council’s EDI SPG provides strategic advice on the priorities and workstreams of the wider EDI portfolio of the Council.
Group priorities
The EDI SPG is currently focusing on issues relating to anti-racism, cost-of-living pressures, recruitment and selection, reasonable adjustments and fitness to practise.

Namita Srivastava
Policy Officer
Namita joined the Council in June 2024, having previously worked as a research associate in higher education and as a business support officer for NHS England. She holds a degree in Social Anthropology from the University of Cambridge and a Master’s in Social Policy from Goldsmiths, University of London.
