External Examiner-International MSC in mental health nursing practice with leadership

The Department of Nursing at the University of Leicester is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for a new 1 year post graduate International MSC in Mental Health Nursing Practice with Leadership. This is an exciting opportunity to support your development and share best practice across a range of professional skills aligned to NMC standards. Modules support learners across a range of professional Nursing backgrounds as they expand their international professional development in safe, effective and compassion focused mental health patient care.

How to apply

Applicants should have:

  • Experience in programme, module and/or curriculum development in mental health nursing related to teaching, supervising and the assessment of student nurses.
  • Be a current NMC registered mental health nurse.
  • Have previous experience in assessment at HEI level.
  • Previous external examiner experience is desirable but not essential as the University will provide a full induction and ongoing support for new external examiners.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing samples of assessed work.
  • Commenting and contributing to research inspired curriculum design, module overview, assessment design, marking standards and overall quality of teaching and learning.
  • Remotely attending up to two assessment boards per academic year.
  • Submitting an annual written report to support quality assurance and enhancement.
