The University of Worcester is looking for an external examiner for the Pre-registration BSc (Hons) Midwifery course and the BSc Midwifery Degree Apprenticeship. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in our programmes.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced academic staff. Registration as a Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, with relevant subject knowledge and experience as a Midwife is essential.
The University of Worcester offers support for external examiners and a full induction day, with the next one scheduled for Tuesday 9th February 2027. Further support is also provided by the Course Leads, Head of Department and module team.
The appointment will be effective from September 2026 and will continue for 4 years. The successful candidate will be invited to a staff induction day.
The role requires external moderation of assessments (majority can be viewed remotely), attendance at the Board of Examiners which are held on-line) and completion of an Annual External Examiners Report. It is also desirable that the external examiner can attend for one additional day in person to visit students and practice assessors/ supervisors in placement.

- The area of expertise of external examiners is within the area of assessment undertaken.
- Applicants should have recently been employed (or are still employed) within a university appointment.
- He/she must not have been a University of Worcester examiner within the last five years.
