UWE Bristol, School of Health & Social Wellbeing is seeking a Field External Examiner and External Assessor for Continuing Care Adult Nursing.
Essential: Applicants must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
The External Examiner will also be the External Assessor for the Degree Apprenticeship. Further details can be found below.
The portfolio will cover some of the following modules:
- Assess & Decision Making
- Decision Making and Assessment
- Essentials of Nursing Practice
- Fundamentals of Nursing practice
- Leadership & Supervision
- Practice Assessor
- Supervision and Leadership
Please note, your final portfolio may require you to cover modules beyond this specific professional area. Some of the modules also include examining those delivered at our collaborative provision partners and therefore, familiarity with collaborative provision/partnerships is desirable.
This post is considered as two roles and therefore, you will receive two annual payments following submission of both annual reports.
The External Assessor (EA) is a role created and overseen by the Office for Students for integrated and fully (statutory) integrated apprenticeships. As an External Assessor with specific occupational knowledge, you’ll provide external quality assurance of the End-Point Assessment (EPA). Further information developed by Office for Students (OfS) regarding the role of the External Assessor can be found here.
As External Assessor, you will ‘visit’ UWE (online or in person) annually and report on your findings. If multiple cohorts are going through EPA during the year, you will be invited to attend an online exam board for each one. You will report each year on:
- your observations, meetings and sampling undertaken
- any issues or activities within the context of the delivery of End Point Assessments that do not meet the requirements of the Standard, or pose a risk to effective End Point Assessment delivery and/ or the achievement of occupational competence
- areas of good practice and developmental advice
- progress with any items for improvement previously raised with the EPAO by the External Assessor
The applicant as a minimum will:
- understand the apprenticeship standard and end-point assessment plan found here: Skills England
- have a current professional registration with the Nursing Midwifery Council
- comply to the requirements of the EPAO
- be independent of the apprentice, and the employing organisation who are involved in delivering the apprenticeship
