External Examiner: PGDip in Community Learning Disability Nursing Specialist Practice Qualification and BN (Hons) Learning Disability Nursing

The School of Health Sciences, Bangor University is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for the following programmes:

  • PGDip Community Learning Disability Nursing Specialist Practice Qualification (SPQ), 2-year, part-time, distance-learning programme.
  • Bachelor of Nursing (Hons) Learning Disability Nursing, 3-year, full-time programme.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified academic staff with expertise and experience in Learning Disability Nursing. Applicants must hold:

  • a current NMC registration in Learning Disability Nursing,
  • an SPQ in Community Learning Disability Nursing (or demonstrate equivalent experience)
  • an NMC recorded teaching qualification, and
  • have experience relevant to the academic standards of the programmes.

Experience as an external examiner is desirable but not essential. The role includes moderation of assessments, review of Learning Disability Nursing specific modules across both programmes, completion of monitoring reports, and attendance at Boards of Examiners. Our programmes use online submission and marking processes; experience with Turnitin and Blackboard is helpful, however, training will be provided.

The appointment will be with effect from September 2026 and will be for a full 4-year term. Full course details and documentation will be provided to the appointee, and an induction day will be offered to be held at the University following appointment.
