External Examiner

The University of Hull, School of Healthcare in the Faculty of Health Sciences, is seeking to appoint an External Examiner for the following programmes:

PG Dip in Community Nursing: Specialist Practice Qualification (District Nursing)
Community Practitioner Nurse Prescribing (V150)

We are looking for an experienced academic, currently involved in the teaching and assessment of postgraduate DNSPQ students and hold a Specialist Practitioner Qualification (District Nursing). Experience as an external examiner would be preferrable. The appointment is for the start of the 2026/2027 academic year, and external examiner appointments are typically for a period of four years.

The requirements of the position are as follows:

  • External consideration and moderation of students’ assessments of theory and practice learning.
  • Submission of an External Examiner’s Annual Report.
  • Membership and attendance at Boards of Examiners (Online).
  • Collaboration with the programme teams to inform the continued monitoring, review and enhancement of these programmes.
  • Providing constructive feedback, advice and recommendations about teaching and learning content and assessment design and on curriculum development/improvement plans.
  • The successful applicant must hold current registration with the NMC.
