Nations:

The Council of Deans of Health is pleased to announce its new Strategy 2030, which marks a significant step forward in our work to support our members, strengthen our community, and lead meaningful change across health education and research.

As the UK-wide voice of strategic academic leaders in nursing, midwifery, and the allied health professions, we have developed this strategy to reflect the broad diversity of our 100+ member institutions. We know our members are facing increasing pressures, and our new strategy is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting them.

Through strong connections with our members and active engagement with government and stakeholders, we promote high-quality education and research as the foundation of a sustainable, effective, and compassionate healthcare system.

At the heart of this strategy are our three strategic aims:

  • Empowering our members as system leaders in health education and research, enabling them to deliver excellence in teaching and research and to navigate an increasingly complex external environment.
  • Building a strong and connected leadership community alongside our members, to increase our reach, amplify our voice and encourage collaboration.
  • Driving system-level change through focused policy and external affairs work.

Through a stronger evidence base, deeper engagement with policymakers, and a growing, more representative leadership community, we aim to amplify our members’ voice and influence across the UK.

We’ve also refreshed our vision, mission and values, with a focus on collaboration, inclusion, integrity and impact. Grounded in our core values and built around three interconnected aims, our strategy will ensure the Council remains a trusted and influential voice in strategic academic leadership in Healthcare Education and Research across all UK nations and regions.
