The Council of Deans of Health supported by Health Education England, now NHS England, has released the second of two new reports today: AHP Educator Career Framework.

AHP education is increasingly important and inextricably linked to sustaining the future AHP workforce. The demand for and expectations of the AHP workforce has never been higher and securing the future and current workforce is dependent upon a sustainable and high-quality education both in practice and academic settings.

Professor Alison Chambers, author of the AHP Educator Framework and Independent Education Consultant said,

“The Educator Framework is a career-wide tool to support AHPs engaged in the learning and development of others. It’s been developed with a collaborative approach and it will help AHPs achieve excellence and effectiveness in their education practice through an inclusive and evidence-based approach. It’s a really practical tool to support individuals, teams and organisations.”

Every AHP has an obligation to support the learning and development of others. This framework has been developed to demonstrate that all AHPs can achieve excellence and effectiveness in their education practice, are inclusive, and make use of an evidence-based approach. The framework was created by Professor Alison Chambers with support from various stakeholders, including Council of Deans of Health members.

The AHP Educator Career Framework is a career wide resource for all those engaged in the education and development of Allied Health Professionals. It raises their profile and underlines the importance and potential of AHP Educators.
