The University of Manchester is seeking to appoint a subject external examiner for a range of cancer care units aimed at nurses and other allied health care professionals. Many of the students will be undertaking these units as part of our MSc Specialist Practice (Cancer) programme. Units can also be studied independently as part of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) at levels 6 and 7.
Many of the units you will be externally examining have been developed with – and are led by – colleagues from the Christie School of Oncology. These include:
- Principles and Practice of Cancer Care (NURS60033/NURS9346C)
- Haematology Oncology Nursing (NURS63160/NURS93160)
- Safe Delivery of Anti-Cancer Therapies (NURS61722/NURS9172C)
- Promoting Effective Practice in Supportive and Palliative Care (NURS60036/NURS9347C)
- Principles and Practice of Breast Care Nursing (NURS60035/NURS9370C)
- Personalised Care and Survivorship (NURS60098)
- Effective Strategies for Advanced Communication (NURS60092)
Further details on the programme structure and links to these units can be found https://www.manchester.ac.uk/study/masters/courses/list/10985/msc-specialist-practice-cancer/course-details/#course-profile. There is a possibility that an additional unit (Acute Oncology) may also be offered as part of this programme (subject to approval).
The majority of coursework is submitted electronically by students and marked online. External examiners will be required to use the online moderating process. User guides and support will be available.
University appointments for external examiners are normally for a period of four years.
