External Examiner needed for multiple Psychology courses (IAPT)

The University of Northampton is looking for External Examiners for the following:

One external examiner with oversight of a range of modules on our BPS accredited Undergraduate BSc Psychology Course. The modules associated with this post are level 5 & 6 Modules in Positive Psychology, the Psychology of Spirituality, Religion and Wellbeing, Personality and individual differences and conceptual and historical issues in psychology, as well as the dissertation module which is shared with other external examiners.

Two external examiners with oversight of modules on our BPS Accredited Postgraduate MSc psychology conversion course. Covering all core domains of the BPS curriculum, a familiarity with the core curriculum, including biological, cognitive, developmental and social psychology, individual differences, conceptual and historical issues, research methods and dissertations.

To support one (or more) of our Children and Young People Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (CYP IAPT) programmes. These programmes develop the Child, and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) and Mental Health Support Team (MHST) workforce across the Midlands. The programmes for which we currently have a vacancy is:

Grad/Post Graduate Diploma in Children and Young Peoples Wellbeing
Post Graduate Certificate in Low Intensity Supervision Training/Post Graduate Diploma in Low Intensity Senior Practitioner.

We are looking for someone:

  • who is suitably qualified with expertise in the above areas, ideally a Programme Leader or Senior Lecturer on similar programmes.
  • Previous experience as an external examiner is preferred but not essential.

The appointment will be for the four academic years 2025 to 2029, from (1 October 2025 or immediate start if appointing after 1 October 2025). The exception is the Grad/Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Mental Health Practitioner, which will be for a period of one year, from (1 October 2025 to 29th September 2026)

The University of Northampton will not appoint an External Examiner from any of our approved partnerships. This information will be checked upon application.

If you are unsuccessful in your application, we will destroy your application and CV after 1 month of the advert closing. If you are successful, your application and CV will be retained securely for 5 years, one year after the end of the 4-year contract.
