Statement following Scottish National Party conference 2022

13 October 2022

Following the Scottish National Party conference, Robyn Cooke, Policy and Research Manager, who attended on behalf of the Council of Deans of Health said:

‘Attending the Scottish National Party conference was a good opportunity to engage with politicians and stakeholders to explain the crucial work our members in Scotland do in delivering the future healthcare workforce and critical research.

It was good to see the party’s emphasis on supporting public services, especially health and social care services. The Council will continue to monitor and engage with developments of the new National Care Service in Scotland. There was clear acknowledgement of significant workforce gaps in the health and social sector in Scotland and the need for government action to address them. We will continue to build on our conference engagement to further highlight the academic workforce issues and how universities can support the growth of the health and social care workforce.’
