CoDHCast: #RaceEquityMonth | Cost of Living: considering racial inequalities

3 November 2023

The Council has anecdotal evidence from its members that the cost of living is disproportionately impacting students from minoritised backgrounds. With health and social care students already facing unique financial challenges due to the nature of their courses (additional travel costs to placement, lack of opportunities for part time work), students from minoritised backgrounds on healthcare courses are likely to be significantly impacted. This CoDHcast explores these issues and considers what more can be done to better understand these challenges and support students.

The CoDHcast is facilitated by Andrea Cameron, the Council’s lead for its Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Policy Groups. Speakers for this CoDHcast are Dr Cynthia Okpokiri and Dr Carlene Cornish, both lecturers in Social Work at the University of East Anglia.
