The Council has responded to the Department of Health and Social Care’s (DHSC) consultation on Regulating healthcare professionals, protecting the public. The Council highlighted the importance of ‘right touch’ regulation, opposition to charging for educational quality assurance (QA), the need for universities to be able to appeal decisions made by regulators, and support for student registers.
The consultation proposed reforms to modernise professional regulation in four areas: Governance and Operating Framework, Education and Training, Registration, and Fitness to practise. This was undertaken by the DHSC on behalf of all 4 UK nations.
