Research Month provides a dedicated opportunity to explore and promote excellence in research strategy across our organisation and the wider professional community. Throughout the month, we will highlight the role of research in strengthening evidence‑based practice, informing policy, and driving innovation.

This webinar explores the health research pipeline, from early student engagement through to developing independent research leaders. It highlights the key stages, challenges, and opportunities across the pipeline including undergraduate research literacy, postgraduate pathways, and strategies for supporting postdoctoral progression and research leadership.

Webinar: The Latest on REF 2029, 9 June 2026

Following on from our recent webinar with Professor Jo Rycroft-Malone, REF Panel Chair for Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Nursing and Pharmacy, we are delighted to host a follow up conversation with Jo, alongside Kim Hackett, Director of Insight and Engagement at Research England. Council of Deans of Health CEO Ed Hughes will join the discussion on the latest REF developments and the panel criteria setting process.

This event is part of the Council of Deans of Health’s Research Month series. The event is open to all.

The Council is pleased to present a structured programme of content designed to support colleagues at all stages of their research engagement. During Research Month, we will publish and promote a curated selection of:

  • Webinars and interviews with sector leaders and addressing key themes in research development including the research pipeline and promoting research careers to AHPs
  • Podcasts featuring expert commentary on research and EDI and knowledge mobilisation, collaboration, and impact
  • Blogs showcasing practical insights and emerging priorities, including on building research capacity, student experiences of research, and research communities of practice

These resources aim to enhance understanding of research strategy while providing actionable perspectives for professional practice.

In this webinar, we hear examples of good practice in partnership working between HEIs and industry and service organisations to help drive innovation and knowledge exchange.
