We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced researcher to join a multi-site research project to develop and test an intervention that supports person-centred care in hospital. This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful research team with an established track record in dementia care. This post is funded through a research grant from the Alzheimer’s Society. You will be based within the Centre for Research in Primary and Community Care (CRIPACC). CRIPACC is a vibrant, multidisciplinary research centre with over 30 researchers from diverse backgrounds including nursing, social work and mental health. This post would be ideal for someone with research experience with people living with dementia keen to develop skills in co-design and implementation methods. The project brings together senior researchers from three universities in the fields of dementia, health and social care, and gerontology. The appointee would have the opportunity to work with senior academics and researchers who are experts in their field. The successful applicant will work closely with the Principal Investigator to carry out all aspects of the research in one site and liaise with researchers at two other sites. The Research Fellow post will undertake research and establish a programme of research activity, whilst the Senior Research Assistant will support the research team in achieving project milestones. You will attend project meetings, share the findings and disseminate the project outcomes. The successful post-holder will take an active part in the academic life of the School as required.

The post would suit a post-graduate with research experience with older people living with dementia and an understanding of hospital settings. You will have experience in qualitative research methodology, and for the Research Fellow post a record of scholarly published work in peer-reviewed journals. You will be organised, capable of using your own initiative, able to work well in a team and be sensitive to the needs of the research participants. Fundamental to the role will be the ability to manage relationships with external stakeholders and participants. Frequent travel within Hertfordshire and occasional meetings with researchers at the University of Nottingham and Leeds Beckett University will be expected, so a driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable. You will hold a good undergraduate honours degree in a relevant discipline, and for the Research Fellow post also a PhD or equivalent or be close to completion, or have equivalent experience.
