Background
We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Senior Lecturer or Reader in Child Health Nursing who has academic experience in this field and can lead on, contribute and develop our current Child Health Nursing provision and the work of the Centre for Maternal and Child Health Research.
The School has excellent relationships with external partners and healthcare providers across London and the South East, including Health Education England, NHS Trusts, and private and third sector organisations. In addition, the School is working with the North Thames Applied Research Collaboration on the integration of health and social care. Embedding these relationships ensures our research and educational impact translates into improvements in practice.
Responsibilities
The post holder will make a significant contribution to the leadership of the school’s educational activities, ensuring education is of high-quality, professionally relevant and informed by research, scholarship and pedagogy. The post holder will also develop and/or lead individual and collaborative research, including generating research income, and contribute to the leadership of research activities to build the achievements and profile of the School and University.
Person Specification
The appointed candidate will have a higher degree in a relevant health or social science discipline, registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a Children’s Nurse; a PhD or equivalent in a relevant discipline; and a relevant teaching qualification, or a willingness to qualify. They will also have a national or international reputation as a recognised authority in their subject area and a record of producing nationally or internationally excellent research. Appointment at Reader level will require additional academic experience and achievement.
