Senior Lecturer in Social Work, School of Health and Social Work
FTE: 0.5 FTE (18.5 hours per week)
Duration of Contract: Fixed Term contract until 31st March 2022
Salary: UH8 £40,322 to £51,034 pro rata pa depending on skills and experience
Location: College Lane Campus, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced social worker, who is either SWE registered or who can convert their existing professional membership into SWE registration. You will be responsible for the teaching and assessment of undergraduate/postgraduate social work students at the University, at their placement or place of work. You will utilise current evidence-base to underpin teaching and learning activities. You may participate in development and reviews of programmes including inter-professional developments across the School, and contribute to undergraduate curriculum developments; including development, delivery and teaching on short courses, modules and programmes. You will contribute to the administration of the School by undertaking additional roles, such as being a module lead and joining teams involved in activities such as admissions, timetabling or programme support. You will also be expected to undertake and contribute to Social Work research.
You will liaise with and maintain good relationships with colleagues across the School and University. You will be an experienced Social Worker with the SWE (or ability to convert local equivalent to SWE prior to appointment) with recent academic and/or practice experience and knowledge of the UK system. You’ll have a breadth of relevant social work practice in either children services, adult care or mental health. Your application will demonstrate a sustained interest and knowledge of contemporary Social work practice. It is essential that you have good oral and written communication skills and are proficient in the English language. You will demonstrate a willingness to undertake Social Work research and are able to work effectively as part of a team. You will be able to work without close supervision, be organised, take initiative and be self-motivating, and be adaptable to change and flexible in your approach. Being willing to contribute to inter-professional teaching and learning activities, with an interest in evidence-based healthcare is key. The successful applicant will hold an honours degree in social work, and have completed or be close to completing a Masters degree (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant subject or have substantial relevant professional experience.
