About You

We are seeking an enthusiastic and friendly professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills coupled with a commitment to providing an excellent student experience. You should have a relevant background and experience in teaching Pharmacy to a wide variety of health professionals using appropriate underpinning strategies to inform teaching, across a variety of healthcare settings.

You should have an established or promising research profile. Our research profile is expanding and our staff are required to engage in this activity and we have established research themes.

To be successful, you will further enrich our student’s experience through your expertise and subject knowledge as evidenced through your qualifications and professional experience. In return, you will join a forward thinking and dynamic team that pushes the boundaries of curriculum development within our new Medical School.

You will be an experienced pharmacist, an excellent teacher, and will have a PGC in Learning & Teaching in HE (or equivalent) and FHEA status or be able gain both within 2 years of appointment. A strong understanding of the current regulations, standards and guidance for NMP applied to nurses, pharmacists and allied health professionals and the ability to teach pharmacology and NMP associated subjects are essential. Contribution to the Prescribing Safely vertical theme in the MBChB is required, commensurate with GMC guidance.

About the Job

We wish to appoint a GPhC registered Pharmacist who is also a Pharmacist Independent Prescriber, as a Senior Lecturer to our Medical School. The schools’ philosophy for working, is that staff work across the continuum of our undergraduate and postgraduate provision, giving staff variety in engagement, but ensuring that specific expertise is appropriately deployed. Experience of teaching and learning within a higher educational setting is desirable, or evidence of the delivery of teaching to and education of healthcare professionals.

Therefore, the successful post holder will have significant involvement in the organisation and delivery of our Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) Programme, offered at levels 6 and 7, the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice (ACP) and the Prescribing Medicines Safely vertical theme for the MBChB. The successful candidate will provide greater capacity/subject expertise to deliver on this provision, enhancing the student experience by providing excellent and effective teaching that is embedded in current, evidence-based practice, supporting students to achieve their full potential and preparing them for safe and effective practice throughout their clinical career.

The post holder will report to one of the Heads within the Medical School, however they will work closely with the Programme Leads for Non Medical Prescribing, MSc Advanced Clinical Practice and the MBChB.

As a Grade 9/10 Senior Lecturer, you will also be required to take on some leadership roles as deemed appropriate by your Head of Department.

As related to the subject speciality outlined above, the successful candidate will be supported to develop a strong research profile.
