The School of Allied Health and Community offers courses ranging from foundation degrees and foundations years, to BSc (Hons) and Masters’ level study in a number of disciplines related to Health and Social Care. The School is also developing a range of new CPD provision. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced physiotherapist and academic to lead our new MSc (Pre-registration) Physiotherapy course and continue the success of Physiotherapy education at the university. You will join the Department of Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Nutritional Therapy in the School of Allied Health and Community. You will join a friendly and supportive team of physiotherapists, occupational therapists and nutritional therapists, who play key roles in the delivery and on-going development of the courses in the Department.
You will take on the role as Course Leader or be motivated to undertake this role with support from the Head of Department and Course Leader in MSc (Pre-registration) Occupational Therapy, with whom you will work closely. You will be actively involved in curriculum development and design, creatively considering teaching and learning within a dynamic team, and teaching both years of the Physiotherapy course. We expect and encourage all staff to participate in a variety of modules in Physiotherapy, and other disciplines, at foundation, under-graduate and post-graduate level where relevant.
The physiotherapy and occupational therapy staff work as a truly inter-professional team, teaching collaboratively across shared and profession specific modules at all academic levels on both BSc and MSc courses, and you will be expected to share this philosophy. You will be involved in preparing students for professional education, and will play a part in practice education, undertaking practice visits virtually and in person. As a student-centred inclusive university, your role will include being a Personal and Academic Tutor, to support and encourage students to achieve their potential.
You will also supervise students with their dissertations and participate in admissions and recruitment events where we work collaboratively with our colleagues in IMPACT, the university service-user group, who support teaching, recruitment, and curriculum development. You should also expect to play an active role within the School, which may include involvement in the delivery of CPD activity across a range of programmes. All staff are expected to engage in research and scholarly activity to enhance their own professional and academic development. Candidates are expected to highlight their areas of expertise in practice and how they intend to further this through scholarship and research.
