This is an exciting opportunity for a registered midwife to join the Department of Allied Health Professions, Sport and Exercise. We are seeking ambitious, and experienced graduate midwives to join a friendly and motivated team in education and research within the School of Human and Health Sciences. We are looking to recruit two lecturers / senior lecturers in midwifery to join our team.

We offer traditional degree and apprenticeship degree routes leading to a midwifery qualification, and postgraduate provision includes the newborn and infant physical examination (NIPE) programme. You will work in a supportive team environment with fantastic opportunities for personal and professional development, career progression and working alongside leading researchers. The University of Huddersfield is a thriving University with a modern campus offering fantastic facilities for work and leisure. We have a diverse student body and professional partnerships with NHS and healthcare partners.

You will be involved in the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate midwifery and health-related programmes. You will be an engaging teacher, keen to conduct high-quality research and who can contribute to our strategic ambitions. This will include, where appropriate, the supervision of doctoral students. You will also provide support to learners, practice supervisors and practice assessors within clinical practice areas.

Commitment to facilitating student-centred learning and innovative approaches to midwifery education are essential. You should have knowledge of a broad range of contemporary midwifery practice and research. You should possess appropriate professional qualifications and be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and have relevant post-registration experience as a midwife. Completion of the newborn and infant physical examination programme is desirable. Having a masters or equivalent degree is essential, and you should either have or be prepared to register for a doctoral qualification within 12 months of appointment. You should be a member of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) or have the capacity to obtain membership within 12 months of appointment.
