Aston Medical School is focused on promoting social mobility, leadership qualities and international connectivity in medicine, whilst addressing the needs of its community through its widening participation pathway, research strategy and emphasis on primary care education and healthcare leadership.

We now seek one or more skilled and scholarly individuals with experience in the practice and education of health leadership and quality improvement to support the Programme Director in developing and delivering our innovative Post Graduate Certificate in Health Leadership. This programme is currently offered as an option within the 5-year MBChB programme. While the key components of the programme, and the approach that will be taken, are in place, the appointee will further develop what will be a unique and future-facing programme for our medical students.

The post holder/s will have an excellent track record in the field, both as a practitioner and teacher, with a rising trajectory and evidence of impact.

The successful post-holder/s will lead one or more of the modules in the programme and teach medical students using a range of formats including large and small group teaching and workshops, e-learning, project work, library research, and reflective practice in the clinical workplace. A track record of scholarship especially within educational development and delivery would be desirable, along with a passion for enabling student learning, and an enthusiasm for cross-discipline working with colleagues across the University and NHS.
