The Role
As part of our academic team, you will:

  • Develop and Deliver Teaching: Create and deliver relevant, evidence-based, and engaging learning materials in alignment with the NMC (2018) Future Nurse: Standards of Proficiency for Registered Nurses.
  • Collaborate with Partners: Build and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers in Berkshire, Central and North West London, and West London, ensuring programmes remain practice-focused and industry-relevant.
  • Support Student Success: Engage and support students to achieve their potential, providing mentorship and fostering their professional growth.
  • Contribute to Excellence: Assist in the ongoing development of our academic programmes, maintaining the high standards for which our institution is known.
  • Engage in Scholarly Knowledge Exchange: Actively participate in research, knowledge sharing, and professional development activities to enhance your own academic and professional expertise while contributing to the advancement of nursing education.

About You
The successful candidate will have:

  • Professional Registration: Current registration with the NMC as a children’s nurse.
  • Relevant Qualifications: A first degree in a relevant subject (a postgraduate qualification is desirable).
    Teaching Expertise: Ideally, a recognised teaching qualification for Higher Education. For those without, successful candidates will undertake the PGCert in Professional Academic Practice at UWL (within the first two years of employment).
  • Clinical Knowledge: Proven expertise in children’s nursing and the ability to translate this into academic and practical teaching.
  • Organisational Skills: The capability to manage a varied workload effectively, balancing teaching, preparation, and collaboration while meeting deadlines.
  • Autonomous Decision-Making: A proactive approach to prioritising tasks and making informed decisions independently, contributing to the smooth delivery of academic programmes.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, academic colleagues, clinical practitioners, and support staff.
