Liverpool John Moores University School of Public and Allied Health is seeking to appoint an External Verifier for the 120 credit Level 7 Post Graduate Diploma Specialist Practice Qualification: District Nursing Apprenticeship to support the quality assurance of our apprenticeship provision. External Verifiers will complement the work of programme-level External Examiners, by providing oversight of the operation, management and quality assurance of our apprenticeships.
Through oversight of the operation and management of our apprenticeships, External Verifiers will play a key role in helping us to maintain the rigour and quality of our apprenticeships, ensuring they continue to operate in-line with applicable internal and external policies, procedures and regulations. Through the provision of an annual report; engagement with/input into the work of key branches of our governance; consideration of qualitative and quantitative data; and professional interactions with academic Schools, External Examiners, employers and apprentices, External Verifiers will be asked to identify both areas for improvement and features of good practice, with regard to the operation, management and performance of our apprenticeships, at both institutional and programme-level.
As an External Verifier, you will assist us in ensuring that our apprenticeships continue to enable apprentices to develop the required knowledge, skills and behaviours; that off the job learning appropriately aligns with apprentices’ day to day work activities; and that they prepare apprentices to progress to timely completion of the End-Point Assessment. As required, you will also have opportunities to contribute to the enhancement of our portfolio of apprenticeships, providing external expert comment on new apprenticeships and/or changes to existing apprenticeships.
In relation to our integrated degree apprenticeships, External Verifiers will be required to undertake external assessor monitoring. This will require you to visit the university for each cohort of apprentices completing End-Point Assessment. However, where appropriate, opportunities to conduct these visits online can be considered. In addition, External Verifiers may also be asked to attend, upon invitation, meetings of our Degree Apprenticeship Steering Group and/or our Boards of Examiners. External Verifiers will be engaged for a period of five academic years and will be eligible for an annual fee of £500 (plus any reasonable expenses incurred, which will be paid in accordance with the university’s regulations).
