The School of Nursing and Advanced Practice is looking for academic colleagues to act as External Advisors for a validation and NMC approval event. There are two programmes on the agenda: an MNurs Dual Field programme and a PGDip second field of nursing programme. We provide adult, child and mental health nursing. We will require an advisor for each field for these Level 7 awards.
We are awaiting confirmation of the date from the NMC but proposed dates are March 4th, 6th, 11th 2025
The role involves:
- Acting as a subject expert on the validation and review panel
- Receiving and providing written feedback on programme documentation.
- Attending an online event facilitated via MS Teams on 4th, 6th or 11th March (to be confirmed) to discuss the programme with the programme team, NMC reviewer, students and a range of external stakeholders.
- Contributing to the panel’s decision regarding approval of the programme.
The criteria for this position is listed below:
- Nominees must have current academic experience and subject expertise to be able to advise on the programme content and delivery.
- Hold a UK professional registration with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC)
- Nominees must hold an academic qualification that is at least of the same FHEQ level as the programme being reviewed.
- Nominees must be independent of the programme being reviewed.
- Nominations will not be accepted from current or previous external examiners (within the last 5 years).
- Nominations will not be accepted from former employees/students of the university (within the last 5 years).
- There should be no close association between the nominee and the programmes/school/faculty, or any other factors which may compromise objectivity (for example, placement tutor, research collaborator, relative or close friend).
- A nominee may be appointed as an external panel member/external advisor no more than 2 times in a 5 year period.
