External Examiners – BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing

The University of Worcester is looking to appoint two new external examiners for the Pre-registration BSc (Hons) Nursing (Adult) 3 year programme.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced academic staff. The successful applicants must be registered on the appropriate part of the NMC register and have relevant experience of working in adult nursing as well as teaching and assessing on nursing programmes. The successful candidates will be responsible for externally reviewing adult, core or practice modules on our existing curriculum or the incoming curriculum (NMC, 2018 standards) as appropriate to their experience and expertise. Modules are at level 4, 5 or 6. Modules to be examined include communication and professional values, health promotion and social determinants of health, anatomy and physiology for nursing practice, principles of adult nursing, fundamentals of medicines management and therapeutics, and essential skills and nursing practice, although external examiners will be expected to review and report on a range of modules.

The University of Worcester offers full support for external examiners, including a full induction day in January 2020. Further support is also provided by the Programme Director and module teams. The appointments will be for four years, from September 2019 to December 2023.

All appointments are subject to the candidate meeting the University’s criteria for appointment. Applications are by submission of CV.

  • The area of expertise of external examiners is within the area of assessment undertaken
  • Applicants should have recently been employed (or are still employed) within a university appointment
  • He/she must not have been a University of Worcester examiner within the last five years.
